You should have 2 versions
One in black in white and one in color.

The black in white one is for invoices and other documents that involve faxing, photocopying, you run out of color ink on your printer, etc.

You should fill the outer most border in the black and white logo.

Your text is too small. You can test this when you reduce the size of the logo for different purposes.

If you have text in your logo, you want people to be able to read the text no matter what size your logo is at.

I personally think that that badge like oval design in back is too busy. It distracts the eye from your character and text. I would take it out.

Logos are about simplicity. Not detail. If you really feel like you must have something in back or surrounding the text, then make it less detailed.

As far as colors, stick with a small color palette.

Colors that pop and stick out. You want people to remember your logo...your name.

I hope that this helps. Your on the right track.

Your welcome.

Hey man, if anyone is open to constructive criticism...I am willing to give it. It only helps us grow as artists.

There are many who don't like criticism in any form (constructive or otherwise). The thing about it is that you just have to look over the good critiques and then use whatever may benefit you. Or you can just trash it and ignore it. That's the beauty of it.

Anyways, I hope that it helps you achieve the results that "you" are happy with.
